How to Boost Your Immune System during COVID

By Ted Matthews

Even though Delaware County has just recently been put in the green zone of the Coronavirus pandemic, it is still important to keep up with our Immune System Health. The CDC is already predicting a second wave of the virus, so we have to stay prepared. In the natural supplement industry, there are many different supplements and vitamins that can help boost your immune system.

Zinc

Everyone’s body needs the nutrient Zinc. Cells throughout our body contain zinc to benefit the immune system and fight off viruses and bacteria. When our body is deficient in Zinc, it’s more likely that our body will develop a virus. Taking about 30-50mg of Zinc every day can help prevent any respiratory illness and prevent viruses from replicating.

Elderberry

Here at Burman’s Health Shop we carry a few different Elderberry products in all different forms. Elderberry syrup, Elderberry Honey Tonic, Elderberry capsules, and Elderberry Tea.  Elderberry can be used as an everyday supplement to help boost the immune system and to try and prevent any virus or bacteria from entering the system. Taking Elderberry by the liquid syrup form will get it into your system much faster than taking it in a capsule form.

Elderberry Honey and Tonic is also in a liquid form blended with 12 different herbs that can also benefit the immune system. This makes it extra strength Elderberry. Elderberry is also beneficial for helping zinc break through the cell walls and can benefit the absorption of Zinc in the body. Taking about 1-2 tablespoons twice daily is a good dosage during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Vitamin D-3

The Coronavirus attacks the respiratory system and also attack the lungs. Taking Vitamin D-3 daily can benefit lung function and boost the immune system. Many people already have a compromised immune system as it is, so taking about 4000 IU of Vitamin D-3 daily can be very beneficial.

Also, since everyone in Pennsylvania was on quarantine for quite some time, we are not getting D-3 naturally from the sun as much as we usually would. Thus, taking it daily can be very beneficial while preparing for the second wave of the virus.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is already known for its antioxidant properties. It can be used for many different things such as strengthening the immune system, putting antioxidants into the body, and benefiting the body by trying to prevent any virus, cold, and or bacteria. According to Medical News Today, “Vitamin C has been used on positive Covid-19 patients to reverse some of the damage that Covid-19 can cause.” Vitamin C can also be used as a daily supplement to potentially boost and strengthen the immune system. We would recommend taking 2000mg of Vitamin C daily.

Quercetin

Quercetin is a flavonoid that can potentially slow down viruses and decrease how long it stays in your system. Taking about 500mg-1000mg can try and benefit the immune system. It also helps to prevent viruses and or bacteria from replicating inside the body. Quercetin can also be very beneficial for inflammation, arthritis, and or diabetes.

Burman’s Health Shop is here to help you decide which supplements would be best for you to prepare for the second wave!
