What Does Collagen Do?
Collagen is a part of the protein family, and our bodies naturally produce it. It makes up about one-third of the body’s proteins, according to Live Science. Our body creates it by breaking down the proteins we put into our body and turns them into amino acids.
When the body lacks Collagen, you can put it back into your body by taking a Collagen supplement in a powder form, liquid form, or capsule form. You can also adjust your diet by eating a high protein diet. You can find it in high protein foods.
There are differences between different Collagens, and they all contain different types. There are about 28 different types of Collagen, but the main types are type I, type II, type III, type V, and type X due to their extremely beneficial properties.
Different Types of Collagen
Basically, each different type provides various benefits for different things and different parts of the body.
Type I
Out of all of the different types of Collagen, type I is probably the largest amount of natural occurring Collagen already found in the body. Type I can help by benefiting the skin. It can help not only brighten and tighten up the skin but also it has anti-aging properties. Type I can also be helpful if you are looking for healthier, stronger hair and nails.
Type I Collagen is also beneficial for strengthening the bones, tendons, and some tissues in the body. If you are looking for skin support, bone support, or are looking to strengthen tendons and tissues in the body, Type I is definitely something to think about. It is the strongest and one of the most important, therefore, you can usually find this type in most Collagen supplements. You can also find naturally occurring type I in egg whites, and eggshells.
Type II
You can find Type II Collagen in the cartilage of the body and in the lining of the stomach. That being said, type II can be beneficial for a healthy gut, weight management, healthy joints, bones, ears, nose, and more. Type II can also be beneficial for supporting the immune system.
As we age our bodies natural Collagen starts to decrease, and we begin to feel joint pain, bone issues, and more. A lot of times when our bodies are dealing with joint and or bone pain it could be because of a lack of it. When we begin putting type II back into our bodies, type II is going to go right to the cartilage. This will then support the bones and joints, and may begin to rebuild the Collagen levels and provide relief.
Type III
You can find Type III Collagen in the body as well, especially in tissue like the skin, intestines, lungs, liver and more. Taking a Collagen supplement containing type III may be beneficial for skin strengthening, skin conditions, maintaining a healthy gut, strengthening the teeth, and can support the lungs, liver and immune system.
Type V
Type V Collagen can be found in the body as well, but in a much smaller amount than all of the other types. The importance of type V is that it controls the spread of the other types of Collagen and makes sure it is going to the connective tissues. Also, most of the time, type II and type V coincide in joint cartilage, which can be extremely beneficial for joint pain.
Type X
Type X Collagen can also be found in the cartilage of the body. It can be beneficial for joint issues, and also for bone support and bone formation.
How Long Will it Take to See Results?
Here at Burman’s Health Shop we often get asked the question, “How long until I see results using the Collagen?” When you begin taking a supplement, it is not something that is going to work right overnight. It is a rebuilding process almost.
When taking a supplement, you are replenishing the Collagen in the body. This means you are building it back up for hair, skin and nails results, and also joint, bone, and gut health. Stick with it. Continue taking that supplement. Most people see results anywhere from 1-2 months.
